NEW YEAR HIGHLGHTS

Saint Sophia Philoptochos prays that everyone started out the New Year with a refreshed outlook filled love, good health and another step further in your journey of faith.

On January 13, we gathered with our fellow parishioners for the cutting of the Vasilopita. We thank Francine Kott for planning the festivities that followed church services. Everyone who attended made generous donations totaling over $1,600.00 that went directly to St. Basil’s Academy in New York. We are very appreciative of the many families who have signed up to provide sweets for the Sunday fellowship. Dates are still available for 2008. Francine Kott would be happy to provide you with all the details and pencil you in. During the month of February, a “Girl’s Night Out” was greatly enjoyed by over 50 people. The event, featuring food, fun and Bunko, was planned by Kathy Katrakis for our annual Philoptochos membership drive. We were quite pleased to welcome many new members. For those that couldn’t join us, we invite you to join us for our next meeting on March 3rd at 7pm.

SAVE THE DATE

October may seem far off, but the 2008 festival of tables co-chairs, Dr. Kanella Mathioudis and Bess Pappas are already putting together committees as they begin planning this highly anticipated event. Please mark your calendars for October 11. We can hardly wait to once again transform our community center with the amazing creativity provided by our table hostesses! Please see Kanella or Bess if you are interested in lending your time and talent for this always memorable afternoon.

SEASON OF GREAT LENT

During the season of Great Lent, St. Sophia Philoptochos continues to undertake many projects to serve others and honor Christ. On March 15, we will be planning a visit to the Greek American Nursing Home. Please see Kathy Skoulakaris for further information and to sign up for this outing. April begins with a Loukoumades Sale coordinated by Georgia Scott on April 6. Please let Georgia know if you are interested in helping out that day. Fani Kalamaras and Maria Vourazeris will once again, offer their talent & expertise for our Pascha Bake Sale on April 20. Our Community always looks forward to the delicious offerings prepared and offered by these devoted ladies. We will also be offering Lambades for purchase throughout the Lenten season. Our Palm Sunday Fish luncheon will take place on April 20. We thank Pam Argyris, Matina Caribacas and Francine Kott for coordinating this luncheon and we look forward to sharing the afternoon with everyone.

PASCHA BLESSINGS

. St. Sophia Philoptochos wishes everyone a truly meaningful and most blessed Pascha.

Our entire community looks forward to our special fellowship time immediately after Anastasi service on the 26/27. All of the families of the community are urged to bring something to share. Please see Angy Ajroja or Georgia Scott if you can contribute to this very special gathering. Your help is greatly appreciated and will be enjoyed by all.
