<p>Welcome to the website for Agape Academy of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church.</p>
<p><strong>Our Mission:</strong></p>
<p>The mission of the Agape Academy of Saint Sophia is to nurture a preschool child&rsquo;s whole body, mind, and soul within an Orthodox Christian context.</p>
<p><em>Agape Academy of Saint Sophia&nbsp;is the first Orthodox &nbsp;preschool in the northwestern suburbs. Families with pre-school aged children&nbsp;are offered a preschool education in a faith-based family setting that will inspire all Orthodox Christians to grow and develop a positive self concept.</em></p>
<p><strong>Our Goal:</strong></p>
<p>To educate children of age 3 and 4 year olds&nbsp;in a program that provides an academic learning environment and the opportunity to learn the Orthodox Christian Faith.&nbsp; The Agape Academy of St. Sophia&nbsp;&nbsp;prays to allow each child to &ldquo;Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.&rdquo;&nbsp; 2 Peter 3:18</p>
<p><strong>Curriculum and Activities</strong></p>
<p><strong>Calendar-</strong>teach time, numbers, tally marks, group numbers, seasons, holidays, and weather.</p>
<p><strong>Letter Work &ndash;</strong>teach letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and letter formation.</p>
<p><strong>English and Greek Language- </strong>build comprehension and writing skills through listening to stories and writing.</p>
<p><strong>Math Workshop&ndash; </strong>use hands-on manipulatives and games to develop and reinforce number sense.&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Science &ndash;</strong>touch upon sciences as they relate to the letter and topics of the week.</p>
<p><strong>Religious Education &ndash;</strong>infuse Orthodox Christian teachings as they relate to the curriculum with an emphasis on the Orthodox Church calendar year.&nbsp; Prayers and hymns will be learned in both Greek and English.</p>
<p><strong>Small Motor &ndash;</strong>work on writing letters and numbers, coloring, gluing, and cutting.</p>
<p><strong>Large Motor &ndash;</strong>able to ride bikes, use parachute, play outdoor activities, and more.</p>
<p><strong>Social Skills-</strong><strong> </strong>students work and share together for certain lessons and projects.&nbsp; Saints are used as examples of how to treat each other and the world around us.</p>
<p><strong>Schedule Includes:</strong></p>
<p><strong><em>Arrival</em></strong><strong>:&nbsp; </strong>Prayer, morning attendance, calendar.</p>
<p><strong><em>Circle Time</em></strong><strong> &ndash; </strong>Children learn to be part of a classroom family and develop skills to participate effectively in a group.&nbsp; Includes story telling, music, and games.</p>
<p><strong><em>Choice Time</em></strong><strong> -&nbsp; </strong>Children freely decide on one of the interest areas they wish to experience.&nbsp; Choices include&nbsp; drama, reading, sensory station, art, discovery center,&nbsp; building, and math manipulatives.</p>
<p><strong><em>Come and See</em></strong><strong> - </strong>Teaching of the Orthodox Faith using the Holy Bible, feast days, and Saint&rsquo;s lives.</p>
